Alt Alt text

Alt text, or "alternative text," is a written description added to images on websites or digital content to describe what the image shows. It's primarily used to improve accessibility for people with visual impairments, as screen readers can read the alt text aloud. Alt text also helps search engines understand the image content, which can improve search ranking and visibility.

What it’s like to bootstrap a tech startup when resources are limited. Listen 🎧

Transcript

Hey guys let's talk about what it feels like to build a tech startup when you don't have a big team big funding or a safety net to fall back on so bootstrapping a text start up really forces you to get into a mindset that your family and friends well won't understand there's no room for bullshit straight up no space for features that sound cool every decision comes with a responsibility and that responsibility can be a blessing or a burden now let's take central for example it's a public square that we built for people to be able to speak their thoughts instead of typing them out who wants to type a whole lot of text right we initially launched the app with a very basic version which was believe it or not borderline and complete it wasn't perfect but it was working so people signed up checked it out started posting and look sometimes that's a good enough signal that we should keep going so in reality high efficiency a bootstraps startup isn't about moving fast just for the sake of moving fast it's about moving the core behavior forward you've got to ask yourself what shift are we actually created and are we even moving in the right direction if you're building an app for example ask yourself one hard question what one thing absolutely needs to work for this app to matter so in our case in a voice first platform we weren't really concerned about fancy profiles and and building other cool stuff that you seen your Instagram profile settings it was just this one thing can people join conveniently speak and actually feel hard if that loop worked for us that means we're alive and ready to move forward now efficiency also means cutting ego out of the road map look here's the hard truth some features that you build will be successful some will well terribly flop and the shin because that's how we learn what not to build and some ideas will sound better in your head than in the users hands that's very normal so what your job is to ship listen adjust repeat that's it and hear something founders really don't talk about enough energy is strategy now small teams don't lose because they're on talented they normally lose because they get unfocused and I fall in the same I fall on the same book I am super unfocused but learning through the years I have started to get more and more focused on what I'm building and what actually matters so protecting focus is actually as important as you know raising money so one week spent on the wrong thing hurts more when you're small because your resources are limited we at central take that concept to heart the way we work is that we consistently and constantly analyze the platform behavior prioritize and prioritize the development accordingly there's no guessing the upside well believe it or not constraints do create clarity when your resources are tight priorities automatically get sharp you learn to measure progress based on real usage real conversion road retention not just how busy your team really feels and as I mentioned in one of my recent posts about what the account founder posted on threads the market really only cares about the value your product delivers not the effort you put into building it so building a public platform a public Square a social network in 2026 really means competing with other tech Giants other huge platforms do some right now well that may sound intimidating which it kinda is the truth is that giant move slowly they don't always move fast small teams have an upper hand here because they can listen adapt and improve much faster than you can imagine so the playbook is simple if you're building a startup build a smallest version of your product that works watch how people actually use it and respond to it fix what blocks the core action that supports your mission tune up the noise and glitter don't run after the fancy features focus repeat what works that's it that's the bottom line I'm not trying to give you a guru speech or a TED talk here there is no perfect roadmap to building a startup every situation is different just steady movement in the right direction is what matters because in a bootstrap startup efficiency isn't about doing everything all at once it's about doing what matters over and over and over again until you build the momentum that will take you to the next level that's all for today follow for more audio content like this until next time

@vic this was awesome. Conformity can put a lot of pressure but it does create clarity. Sometimes it’s almost a good thing to have less resources because it triggers out of the box thinking.
