Alt Alt text

Alt text, or "alternative text," is a written description added to images on websites or digital content to describe what the image shows. It's primarily used to improve accessibility for people with visual impairments, as screen readers can read the alt text aloud. Alt text also helps search engines understand the image content, which can improve search ranking and visibility.

Wondering how we handle your privacy on Centrrl?

Here I talk about how microphone on Centrrl works, how we manage access to it, and what you as a user can do to flexibly manage privacy features on Centrrl. 🎧👇

Transcript

Good morning everyone how's it going I'm hoping everyone had a great week and that you're enjoying the central app so far I just wanted to take a moment and send out this post regarding the privacy on central and how we as a platform manage the privacy features and all the tools that we have enabled on the platform so obviously central is a voice for social network and to have a voice first social network you need to have voices on the platform and to enable those voices you need to enable the microphone feature on the platform so the boys can be recorded now I understand that generally in the Internet community microphone access is sort of a sensitive issue or a sensitive concern and so I thought I would send out a post talking about how we manage the microphone access on your device when you're using the central app and how the entire microphone access ties into the entire privacy that we have here on the platform so there are four components to it generally speaking and I'm gonna briefly walk you through how those four components function and how they tie it together so the first component is that even though central is a voice for a social network sending out audio posts or voice posts is entirely optional so we understand that not everybody is comfortable speaking into the microphone and sending out a voice post which is why we have the option to send out text posts so you're not really limited to how you want to share your thoughts ideas and opinions you can always share them on a text just like in any other traditional social I work platform so that way you're you know you're not locked into just one method of sharing the second component to it is that the microphone feature is a very specific tool that is only accessed at a very specific time so it's not that when you allow microphone access to the central app it's not that we always have access to your microphone that's not how this works the way this works is that microphone the microphone on your device is only access when you initiate a new audio post so when you start a new audio post and start recording it just like what I'm doing right now the microphone access gets enabled and once you stop recording the microphone turns off and the access is disabled once you have published your post we then do not access your microphone unless you come back and you record another post so it's a very specific use case that we ask for the microphone permission and it's it's never accessed any other time than when you're recording the audio post I hope that somewhat clarifies the the concern the third thing is that even though this is not a requirement we as a platform we believe that it's important for our users to have full control over what they allow us access to so to to solve this we have added an option called app permissions in your profile settings and when you tap on the profile when you tap on the app permissions in your profile settings it takes you to your device settings where you can disable your microphone access anytime so even though you might've enabled it to send out an audio post you can always go back and disable it whenever you want you don't have to keep it on forever that's always it's always you always have the flexibility to turn it off and on anytime you like so that's one thing that's not a legal requirement but we as a platform we wanna make sure that our users have full flexibility over what they're allowing us access to now the fourth and the most important component is that when we work with Apple and Google to submit the app into the App Store or Google play store every app goes through a rigorous testing not only from our side but also from the from the Apple in Google platforms and they go over your code and your logic to make sure that you're not violating their App Store policies and you're not violating though the user trust so the fact that you are able to find and download the central app from the App Store and the fact that it was approved that is a strong proved that our platform appears to all the the guidelines the requirements of the App Store and play store and that they were able to verify that our use case for accessing the microphone or any other feature in the app is totally valid and that it works how we have outlined for it to work so I hope that clarifies something if you had concerns about the microphone access or you know something that you were worried about so you can totally go ahead and start recording your audio post and send them confidently and me as the founder of the platform I thought it was important for me to hop on and just send out this post and clarify this in case you did have any doubts so if you do have any questions or comments or feedback on this subject feel free to DM us or just send your thoughts in a post so that the community can read and more people can get answers to something that you might wanna ask or understand and as always we're here for you and I hope you enjoy using the app as much as we do on a daily basis and I'll catch you later
