People often ask why we don’t have hashtags on Centrrl when it’s a social media platform. Fair question.

We don’t have or encourage hashtags on Centrrl because historically, hashtags have been used to spread a lot of junk and create unnecessary spam content.

Instead of hashtags, Centrrl uses “Signals” which allows people to stick to one single topic instead of using multiple hashtags just to gain traction.

Centrrl is specifically designed from a minimalistic perspective for people who want to actually show up to speak the truth and talk about a single, central point at a given time (this also reflects in our logo), instead of spreading trash in all directions with hashtags.

Which is also why you won’t find many creator tools here because we’re building Centrrl for communicators and conversationalists, and not just content creators. ✌️

I agree with @jeffreese here because I’m big fan of Twitter but it can get out of control with the hashtag spamming.

I genuinely like this approach better than what’s out there. I do love using other platforms, but boy do they feel like hashtag factories. 🤦🏻‍♂️
